Superb deep-carved fretted counter made for CHARLES POULETT THOMSON GOVERNOR GENERAL OF CANADA circa 1840. Outstanding quality - this type of counter was only available to special order ( it took between two and three years to be delivered from Canton). It shows his full coat of arms and crest.
