FLOYER - rare large oval

Dimensions:

An unusually large oval counter made circa 1785 with Queen Charlotte type border. It has the full quarterly arms and crest for FLOYER. It never ceases to amaze me how the managed to produce such impeccable pieces of m-o-p - how on earth did they cut these from those large shells and get them so perfectly flat?? And then decorate them with such impeccable detail. Amazing.
