Set of three shapes of counters with fretted border and crets for CHYNWETH  / CHYNOWETH, made circa 1840. Chynweth was a Cornish tin miner who, at the time when Cornish tin mining was experiencing a major decline, went with his family ( and his set of Chinese gaming counters!) to Real del Monte in Mexico as mine manager to the King of Mexico. It is said that to this day you can still buy Cornish pasties in Mexico because of this link!
